IIRC you should save as NTCONFIG.POL (all uppercase)

please explain what are you trying to achieve.. what kind of access to usb device? my users can access usb drives without problems and without policy

I ran poledit with templates common.adm,custom.adm and winnt.adm.To check whether it is working or not I have checked "disable start menu drag and drop"and also "Force classic start menu(XP)".Then saved these changes to config.pol.But when i rebooted the system, changes are not taking place. Not able to change those settings.

- we are talking about xp clients joined to domain, aren't we?
- try to login as a new domain user
- is there anything about it in the event-viewer?
