Hi

Some time ago the built in dyndns client was considered unreliable. Is this still the case?

TIA

Peter

I haven't found an unreliability issues. I've been using it for quite a while, YMMV

Without exhaustive searching, and if memory serves, the issue that was raised was that the dyndns client only updated when the server was restarted.  This was in 6.x, again if I remember correctly, and there was a contrib that was supposed to address it.  Don't remember any similar issues being raised in 7.x

I've used for several month about half an year ago.

it doesn't seem to make any nasty things

I tested very simple by moving the traffic from the server IP to one of my router 2 WAN's and after a while moving to the other one

each time when I deed this in the Dynamic DNS I can see the new IP
the problem was that for example if you use it for "live" services the DNS on hosts don't propagate very rapidly
if everybody's life around you is better, probably yours will be better
just try to improve their life
