Horde and Funambol Sychcronization
« on: July 07, 2009, 02:13:35 PM »
Good Day

I am trying to get the Horde and Funambol Synchronization to work, as per the following wiki ( this is to replace a SBS 2003 Server)

http://wiki.contribs.org/Horde_and_Funambol_Synchronization

I have followed the wiki and installed everyhting, when i get to the point of

Quote

  Funambol Configuration
Client Configuration Settings

All of the various Funambol (or other SyncML) clients want you to enter the SyncML server address and login information.

To sync with Horde on a SME server, use the following values:

    * Location: https://your.sme.server/horde/rpc.php
    * Username: <smeuser>
    * Password: <smepassword>

Outlook

    * Install the Funambol Outlook Plugin from https://www.forge.funambol.org/download/
    * Configure the synchronization options as you desire

It seems to be a simple configuration...of course i get an error saying it cannot see the server

If I check the Horde website..I see the following..at

http://wiki.horde.org/SyncHowTo?referrer=HowTo#toc2

Quote

 Information for syncing with Outlook or Blackberry

    * You need the Funambol connector version 7.1.10 or later. Go to https://www.forge.funambol.org/download/ -> select your client software -> Download and install.
    * Configure as mentioned above.
    * Make sure the server's certificate does validate when using https: Open the https://pathtoyourhordeinstall/rpc.php in Internet Explorer. If the server's certificate is not trusted or not valid, Funambol will not work!
    * Unfortunately, the Windows Mobile version 7.0.8 requires you to synchronize once with a Funambol server (such as http://my.funambol.com) before you are allowed to change settings. (reference?)

It says if the server certificate is not trusted, funambol wont work...so the questions is as SME always gives the certificate error, as not trusted, how do I get the funanmbol to work??

Hi

I solved the problem...man what a mission, but this needs to be added to the wiki...

1. Firstly the SME Server certificate needs to be updated as follows

http://wiki.contribs.org/Certificates_signed_by_own_CA

Once this is done , copy the certificates you have created to a shared folder, I assume you can create an Ibay to share the certificates

Go to the shared ibays, and install the certificates, that is double click on them, and install them.

Once they are installed configure the funambol with https://servername/horde/rpc.php, and the client should then synch.

I remember for computers we only had to browse to any https site on the server with Internet Explorer (did not work for FF). When the Cert error came up (I am going from memory) click "View / Install / OK /OK /OK / yes / really / I promise" and then it would get installed and Funambol would then work.

Correct, with IE7 or IE8, it adds the non trusted certificate in the upper right corner by the address bar, you can install it from there...
