Error dyndns message into SME 7.4 logs
« on: July 24, 2009, 04:04:15 AM »
Dear friend, I'm just trying to have the facilities to implement a vpn connection trough my SME server 7.4, reading some how to, I saw the first step is to create a free account in dyndsn.com, after this you have to go to sme panel an configure PPTP for example in my case is 1 because I'm the only one to have the possibility to connect trough vpn, appear all is OK but today checking the server logs I can see the following error:

Jul 22 20:06:30 crosserv dyndns.com: crossconnect.local does not exist on the dyndns.com system.
Jul 23 14:05:29 crosserv dyndns.com: crossconnect.local does not exist on the dyndns.com system

My server is configure as Private gateway an server
My primary domain is configure as : myhothome.local but the domain created in dyndns.com is vpnmypagenect.dynalias.net.

So I have 3 question:
1.- My primary domain  need to be the same  that the dyndns domain?
2.- How can I force the replication between my server and dyndsn?
3.- How be sure checking the logs,  if the update dyndns server is working?

Thanks in advance.
Eviny

Probably better to configure it as server gateway, private mode will stop incoming data so your dyndns IP will/may not update (??)

Yes, if you use the default dyndns client that you setup when you run login as admin and run "configure this server"

I assume you mean replication of the domain name
They have to be the same if above method is used
You can have additional domains on your server, add them in the domains panel

You can configure any number of dyndns domains (or other similar supported domains) on your sme, even when they are configured as virtual domains in the Domains panel.
In that case you need to use the ddclient contrib. It will add a server manager panel, and all "dynamic" domains are managed from there.
You can still use the sme servers dyndns client for the "main" domain, but you do not have to, and it is probably easier to manage all domains from the same place in the ddclient server manager panel.
