A Weird thing happened to my server.
I backed up the server last night to an external harddrive as I do every week. Ever since that backup, my mail server portion of the server hasn't worked quite right.
Here's the basics of the problem:
1. Friends and family scattered across the country can view my web pages hosted on my server (they're not cached in their computers).
2. My server fails the internet connection check (my buddies are on the phone telling me they can access my site, while at the same time the server is giving me the failed message).
3. I can access old mail, but no new mail sent to my server is arriving(IMAP).
4. Two users recently added cannot access old mail (IMAP), almost like they don't exist (though they are still listed as users in the server-manager section).
5. Shortcuts created on my desktop to provide direct access to folders on my server no longer work. They come back with an error message stating that the "item or files refered to in the shortcut has been changed or moved". I can go the long way to the network to the folder I'm interested in but can no longer access the files in the folders. I get a permissions errors.
I'm attempting to check out the permissions on the server, but am having a hard time accepting that all my permissions were suddenly changed all at once to allow no access. Why would that happen after a routine backup? I did go back and verify that i performed a backup and not a restore...
Any ideas??
Your time is greatly appreciated,
