Moherboard Drivers
« on: September 03, 2009, 12:42:26 PM »
Hi All,

Forgive my ignorance, I'm a real newbie to anything other than windoze.

Anyhow, I've installed SME on an server using an ASUS M2N68-AM mobo, and everything works beautifully except for the internal network card. Fortunately, I had another card, but I'll be needing the internal network eventually when I graduate from server only to server/gateway.

It has also made me wonder if the rest of the mobo drivers have been installed, or if they even need to be installed.

There doesn't appear to be any info on the Asus site.

Could somebody tell me how to get around this problem?

Regards .....

Hi, welcome :-)

if your onboard nic doesn't work now with SME 7.4, it won't work at all with SME 7.4; I would add that SME's devs have no control on hw support because it depends on CentOS/RH

so, you have 2 choices:
- install 2 supported nic (I strongly suggest intel chipset based nics)
- try SME 8, which is in advanced beta state.

any other way is just a PITA.

as you are just arrived here, please take some time to read the documentation in the wiki :-)

Ciao
Stefano
