Hi,
I've recover the mail & domain server data with full backup from a previous updated sme server v.7.4 to a new fresh installation sme server 7.4.
This operation occurred without any trouble and seemed fine until I've started creating new users, who aren't able to login in xp/vista client or access home folder server. An important detail is that previously created users still login and access home folder in the server.
Does some one have a tip ?!?!?
Thanks

More info please

Is this a domain or are you just logging into user shares?

Hi,
The previous server was smeserver 7.4 updeted since version 7.1 and it was recovered to a fresh installation of smeserver 7.4.
It is used as mail + PDC + users logging into their shares.
Users who were created before recover work fine authenticating on windows xp& vista clients and accessing their mail or logging into their home at the server. New  users only access to their mail account but no authenticating on windows xp& vista clients and accessing their mail or logging into their home at the server.
I've seen passwd & user's files for sytem & samba and all users created, even new ones, were registered.
The two things I've altered since recover were generating new certificates for de server and installed lazy-admin-tools 0.9.1-2. I've installed and then removed the  smeserver-adv-samba package after the problem was detected, in a attempt  to solve it!!!! Probably I've just make it worst.
Thanks again for any help possible!!

Pedro

lets try some basic troubleshooting to try to determine where the trouble is.

Can new users log into webmail?

Can new users get their mail with a mail client?

Can new users open a user share by going to \\ip_address_of_server\?

Are new users on new workstations?

Can you open one of the new user's shares from your workstation?

After any of these tests fail, go into the server-manager, view log files panel and see if there is anything in the Messages log that gives you a clue as to why they failed.

Get it into bugtracker

I think we are going to need dev help to get this one working again.

Hi again,
One more update to the discussion:
When any old user updates his password, he won't by able to login again on any pc xp/vista client.
I'm going to add this point to the bugtracker as well.
Thanks,

A question?
Is there a way to copy email/smtp user accounts rebuilding samba users db, recovering it ?
My gess is that email accounts are ok since they authenticate users fine!!
Thanks
Pedro Silva

It looks like your bug is going no where.

How many users on the machine? You may have to IMAP the mail down to the users machines, reinstall the server and IMAP it back up to the server.  (IF you have lots of users this may not be an option.)

How many users on the machine?
About 2000 users (students+teachers+school staff).
You may have to IMAP the mail down to the users machines, reinstall the server and IMAP it back up to the server.  (IF you have lots of users this may not be an option.)

That is exactly what I have done and successfully.
I have installed a new installation of sme server 7.4 in an old machine with all the contribs I've used on the server and synced both with affa contrib.
In this moment, I'm positive about this solution as all users (old and new) authenticate in the domain using xp/vista/ubuntu/Fedora and access their mail without trouble since Tuesday.
