Hi All im new to contribs.org

I have a little problem i installed sme 7.3 on a core i7 machine works well but
 dont get to see all the cores in HTOP --  and the machine looks a bit dodgy
....drops network alot .....

So All i want to know is if its possible to run 7.3 stable .

sme does not support 64bit processors.

(Above statement should read:
sme does not support 64bit mode, but will run on 64bit processors.
Thanks to Charlie for pointing out my slip up).

sme 7.3 is an old release now.
The current release is sme 7.4 which is based on CentOS 4.7, so you should check your hardware is compatible with CentOS 4.7.

You may want/need to use sme 8beta4 as it is based on CentOS 5.3.
Your newer hardware is likely to have better support in CentOS 5.3.

To prove the compatibility, download and install CentOS 4.7 and/or CentOS 5.3.
If they work then the corresponding sme version should also work.

No, this is not true. sme does run on all 64bit processsors, but does not use them in 64bit mode.

That is correct.

Player should also report any problems he/she finds with SME server, via the bug tracker, rather than via this forum.
