egroupware folder syncronization
« on: September 22, 2009, 04:37:43 PM »
I have managed to get egroupware to sync contacts, to do's, calendar and mail using funambol. Is there any way of getting it to sync the outlook folders? (like ms exchange)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of other folders do you have in mind? Funambol can work with 4 of them, like you mentionned.

I hope I didn't miss anything but Egroupware doesn't have folders like openxchange or outlook does and in fact I'm glad about this because folders confuse me. In Egroupware there is one addressbook per user and one for each group of users. You can see everything in your addressbook and in all addressbooks of groups where you belong to. Almost the same for calendar and infolog (tasks and notes): An appointment or an infolog entry belongs to a user (who can of course see it) and additional users or groups are part of it and can also see it.

So syncing over syncml will sync all entries which the user performing the sync can see like mentioned above. New contacts arriving through syncml will belong to the standard addressbook (which can be defined in egw and can be a group addressbook), new appointments and tasks will belong to the user performing the sync with no additional members.

Thanks for your responses.

I'm actually looking for a way to sync the folders that people create in outlook ie: The folders in the inbox.

My clients create folders into which they put certain emails but when they view there webmail it is just a list of emails that are not in the same folders as if they where looking at there Outlook.

I hope I'm explaining myself better, looking forward to your responses.

Thanks

I don't need to share folder, I just want the folders to synchronize so that when you logon to webmail the folder arrangement is the same as outlook.

if you are using pop3, you can't..
if a user create a folder in outlook SME will never see the new folder..
if you use imap, when user creates a folder, he will see it also in webmail.

I use only imap and I see the same structure (in my account) on my smartphone, on my laptop, on my pc and in webmail
