Hi,

I'm new to sme so i hope i don't make a fool of myself, but here goes...

I would like to be able to access sme server from a mobile device running windows mobile 5. Currently i can access my Google account by synchronizing my device with Google. is it possible with sme server ??

Many thanks Andy

I assume you mean email.

I use an iPhone to read and send mail via a number of accounts on my sme server, as well as external free mail services. Just configure the mail server details and configure secure protocols. The issue as I understand it , is whether your mobile device service provider, provides a server to allow connections to other mail servers. I assume most of them do, Optus in conjunction with Apple does.

Wow that was fast!

I have that exact problem with my mobile provider, they wont allow me to connect to a smtp server for outgoing e-mail.

This is why I was looking for a way to Synchronize apposed to pop3 / smtp the e-mails.

Thanks Andy

If you are looking at synchonising more than just emails you could look at Zarafa or possibly Funambol. I moved from Funambol to Zarafa just this week and am glad that I did. However I am using a WM 6 device.

The obvious thing to me, would be for you to upgrade your plan or change providers. Nothing is for free in this world, even Open Source has a cost.
