Please click the Wiki link at top of these forums and read the manuals.

high availability is non-trivial. Not recommended for newbies, especially ones who can't find out for themselves whether there is a backup feature.

In fact, I would hesitate to recommend it for anyone. Much more likely to create problems than solve them.

The closest fully supported option is Affa - not a true high availability solution, but effective.  (Affa can be used to maintain a second SME server that can be "raised" to replace the primary server in a minimum amount of time.)

There are also some (old, old) posts in the forums mostly pointing to this how-to for SME 5.x: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/rmitchell/smeserver/howto/High%20Availability%20How-To%20for%20Linux%20Mitel%20SME%20v5.htm

You probably also want to search the forums for "drbd", "heartbeat", and/or "high availability".
