I've installed SMEServer (server & gateway) under VirtualBox (with host of Ubuntu) which has ip address of 192.168.2.10. I've also installed Linux Mint under VirtualBox. I can ping 192.168.2.10 OK from Linux Mint. But Firefox (in Linux Mint) cannot connect to https://192.168.2.10/server-manager. Help please!

Did you allow for remote access to server-manager on your server? You can do so from the server-manager when accessing it from the server it self (using the admin console) when you login as admin on the login prompt (instead of root). IIRC it is under the remote access tab in server-manager.

Thanks for reply. I've logged in as admin and got to text-based service manager using https:192.168.2.10/service-manager. However, I'm finding it very difficult to operate as I've not been able to install VirtualBox Guest Additions onto SME Server machine (as the Guest Additions iso mounts via Virtualbox menu command but is not shown under /media/cdrom). I am able to select 'Allow Access from Local Networks' under Secure Shell Settings but I don't seem to be able to save it. Could you clarify how to save it & logout in the normal manner?

Secure shell has nothing to do with the server-manager. The server-manager is a set of webpages served by the webserver.

After you have logged in you should see a menu on the left hand side through which you can scroll with the up and down arrows. To select the highlighted option press the right arrow or enter. To switch to the other frame press Tab.
After pressing tab once you should be in the lower right hand frame, here you can operate with the arrow keys as well.

Navigate to the text box called "Network" and type the IP address of the network you would allow access, the subnet in the field below allows you to select which hosts on that network are allowed to access the server-manager, to allow a C-class subnet you would enter 255.255.255.0, for a specific host you would enter it's IP number with a network mask of 255.255.255.255.

After that navigate to the save button at the bottom of the page and press enter. The page should return in a matter of seconds and display a message on the top of the page showing SUCCESS or ERROR with a explanation.

Press q to quit.

I forgot that network 192.168.2.0 is my standard network for connection from my Ubuntu host (to virtualBox) to my router and thence to the internet via cable modem! So I reconfigured SME Server (under VirtualBox) using 192.168.3.1 for SME Server & DHCP 192.168.3.11 onwards for the rest of the internal network (i.e. only Linux Mint under VirtualBox). However, web based server manager still didn't connect on Linux Mint (using URL https://192.168.3.1/server-manager).

I navigated to the text box called "Local Networks" (as I didn't see anything named Network) and saw that network 192.168.3.0 with 255.255.255.0 was displayed with blank Router. So what should I change?

PS On the Server Console, 'Test Internet Access" says OK. On Linux Mint, Firefox can connect to the internet (e.g. the BBC).
