I don't think there will be a speed decrease as this would likely me all LAN traffic handles by your switch.

As to the most common private subnet, I can't say. One thing to be aware of is that you would need to be attentive to subnet schemes when setting up things like ipsec tunnels and other vpn access scenarios.

Thanx, I'll give it a whirl. Basically, you are saying use a unique IP range so when I or my employees connect VPN, there won't be a conflict; something like 10.1.11.1

Also, thanx, this is my first topic over 15 response!

Good. You should verify that all your programmed domain info resolves to the LAN nic ip address.

Don't know what you mean, my understanding is not up to par with words like resolve, DNS, and subnet. But all client PCs, printers; network attached devices have been assigned an IP based on 10.1.11.10-255. Now I need to activate web site blocking and something where I can see what sites my client PCs are accessing. Still searching the forums for the right contrib

Resolves, like www.xxx.com goes to ip like 10.1.11.1

Simply ping commands from an internal host will let you know what ip it resolves to
