Hi all,
Our disk is full due to a few hundred files in the VAR/TMP/ directory. These are all 55MB in size and are something to do with the CLAM AV software, logs or data bases or something. They are called clamav-d981238812387128312 and things like that.
I was tempted to just go ahead and delete some files to create some space, but then i noticed that almost all of the files (being over 15GB in total) are last accessed today or yesterday. This stopped me from just deleting as this stuff is pretty current. So question 1 is - can I delete some of this stuff and still be able to start my system without a full scale problem?
I have done some reading and noticed that people are talking about the LeaveTemporaryFiles qualifier in the clamd.conf file. Now I have done a find command for this conf file and find no less than 10 instances around the place. They are in the docs area (fair enough) and in the events area of the e-smith directory but these ones are zero bytes in size. The only one that has content is the one at /etc/clamd.conf. I have viewed this file and it says not to edit it as it is controlled by the SME interface. Anyway the line with LeaveTemporaryFiles on it starts with a # which I think means that it is disabled. The other possibility is LogFileMaxSize 0 which I think means no limit.
Anyway, the header of the file says not to edit it but to use a file in templates-custom to control it. So question 2 is - can I do anything here or with a template to change the max log file size, or is that not what my problem is?
I am confused (as you can tell) not least by the fact that I have not got ClamAV switched on in the SME interface so how is it filling my whole disk. Question 3 is – can I stop this thing from being ON at all or just doing the minimum. I am using this system as a simple domain for our network and not for emails or anything else.
Thanks for your urgent help.
