Ddclient error message
« on: June 26, 2008, 12:38:43 PM »
Hi

Earlier this week I re-installed SME Server 7.3 on my server & I re-installed ddclient from http://smeserver.free.fr/Files/index.php?dir=sme7/ & entered all my info in so that my domains' IP address could be kept up to date at Zoneedit.

Checking the logs, I found this error message occurring frequently;
Jun 26 20:37:25 mail ddclient[4044]: WARNING:  file /var/cache/ddclient/ddclient.cache, line 5: Invalid Value for keyword 'ip' = ''

Can anyone shed some light on this?

TIA

Peter

Maybe you setup ddclient incorrectly.
Use the "bypass router" or similar setting in the ddclient panel.

Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.

Same problems on SME 8 beta

I am having the same problem.  But my server is 8.0beta4.  The contribs entry says that it should work on SME 8.

Here is the email message I keep getting every ten minutes or so,

Quote
WARNING:  file /var/cache/ddclient/ddclient.cache, line 10: Invalid Value for keyword 'ip' = ''
FAILED:   updating myip.net: Could not connect to dynamic.zoneedit.com.

I tried this, but it made no change:

I also had some problems installing ddclient:

The only thing that I can think of that might be causing a problem is that my ethernet card has two ports instead of one so "External IP detected on eth 1" may not be right.

I tried to log in to Zone Edit and found that my password was not working.  I reset it and it appears to have fixed the problem.

The odd thing is that I was not having any problems reaching my site from the internet, I don't think.  But my mailbox was filling up with these error messages.
