outgoing smtp server

I have been reading the thread's on using the sme server as a public smtp server by implementing popb4smtp.  This is an option that I'm willing to try, but I wonder if there is another way.  I have an account also with attbi.com.  If I am away from my cable connection, in order to receive my emails, I need to log onto the server using my account.  This is done by entering my user name and password into my outlook settings, but also, under the advanced tab, I enter that my connection needs to be a secure socet layer (ssl) and I need to change the ports.  Is this option available on the sme server?

Thanks

Dave

You can run SecureSMTP and SecurePOP, however, you have to use Stunnel.  Search the experienced user forum for details on using stunnel.  As far as the ability to login to your SMTP server, ObtuseSMTP does not (without patching, if the patches even exist) support login.  The only implementation to do what you want to do would be by using pop-before-smtp.

I am using SecurePOP/SecureSMTP as we speak with pop-before-smtp, I have no problems.

Hope this helped,
