A question about SSH!!
« on: June 26, 2002, 02:48:02 AM »
Hi fellows! my question is:

I have 2 or 3 users behind my e-smith gateway/server, and they want to use ssh to connect over other router (no vpn capable)and access a mail server (port 25, 110, 80 and 443), is this possible?

PC 1--------|
PC 2--------+---------E-smith-------INTERNET--------ROUTER(NAT)-------MAIL SERVER
PC 3--------|

Thanks for your help!!

I can't speak for the machine you're connecting to but SME (or SSH) won't stop you doing that.

Thanks for your replay!! I was asking this because I did a similar question but with pptp, and I was told that this can not work (just one pptp at the time, not at the same time) because of pptp nature!!, and recomended me to use IPSEC, but it's a little dificult to set up when all my IP address are dynamics!!

Thanks for your help!!

You will have to forward traffic to the router(nat) on those ports that you specified to the IP address (and port) of the mail server.
Check your router's documentation on how to do this, that is, if the router is even capable of this.
