What defines the user 'admin' as an administrator user for the domain?

There is a way to do that in server manager, but "shock horror" you need to read the online manual (linked at top of forum) to discover how !
PLEASE DO, there might be a lot more you learn about SME.
http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter9#Setting_admin_rights
ie create a group of anyname with a Description of Domain Admins and add users to that group, they will then have domain admin privileges.
After the change, the workstation user should log off and back on again, and will now have domain admin privileges.

I was looking for the wrong thing and reading too fast and missed it.  Sorry.

I was just trying to figure out how SME controlled the admin users as it is not using the smb.conf command of 'admin users ='.  I figured there had to be a more dynamic way...

Well take care and thanks.

Search the Forums, Wiki & Bugzilla on Domain Admins and you will probably find some clues that lead you to the answers you are looking for.
