I'm not sure what you're asking for... but english is not my first lang... so maybe it's me.

If you wanna to use Hylafax with a voIP account (no fix land line) you will find this very tricky... if possible.

What I already did is to use Hylafax with Asterisk without any phisical modem (using IAXmodem - google for it). It works.

But when you use IAXmodem. Do you use a regular PSTN line then. or is it send over the internet? (VoIP)

I have my own Asterix server running.

I have a server that sends faxes using VOIP line provided by my ISP; I was given a router to connect the network to the Internet and has two outputs for line item. According to the experience of two years of operation, the VOIP line is not very suitable for this purpose, I often have transmission problems and often can only send faxes at low speeds (9600 or less).

Thank you for sharing your experience. I think I will go for the standard PSTN line for a while.

Sometime there must come a solution for this issue :-)

I use IAXmodem to emulate an hardware.
This way Asterisk think I  have a phisical modem connected.
I got the call by PSTN and asterisk answer, one option is to send a fax, this option routes to hylafax and his IAXmodem.
So I'm using hylafax with a PSTN landline.

I'm not sure there are any reliable way to use IP lines (voIP) to send fax w/o a lot of special/custom/proprietary HW.
