Nice new hardware for SME Server

I have been following the release of this little guy for a few weeks now:

Nice little unit that starts at only $329 and holds up to four drives and uses ECC DIMMs. Also has two expansion slots that can hold an additional NIC and a Lights Out management card.

Anyone out there try to install SME on one of these?

as far as I can see, it only supports RH5, so you should install SME8

I think SME7 won't support it

On this page

it seems to say that Red Hat 5 is supported, which is equiv to Centos5, ie SME8
There are additional PCI slots for a NIC (or two if the onboard one is not compatible)

Ask HP
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.

I just tried SME8b6 on one and it installed as expected and appears to work fine including the network interface. Now to find a PCEe Ethernet card to add a second interface.....

I used an external USB CD drive because I did not have a spare internal drive to hand.

Time from opening the box to working server : <30mins  :P

These servers are going for a song in the UK, HP are doing a £100 mail in rebate until the end of the month. The best price I could find was £187, needless to say that several of my colleagues were tempted by an '£87' server so we bought 5, now I just have to convince them to try SME server
