[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (111, 'Connection refused')
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:26:43 PM »
Code: [Select]
[root@smeserver ~]# yum update
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, protect-packages, smeserver
Determining fastest mirrors
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/mirrorlist/smeaddons-8 error was
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (111, 'Connection refused')>
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: smeaddons
[root@smeserver ~]#

I'm continually getting the above message, when trying to run a "yum update".
I've tried the suggested "yum clean all", then "yum update" again, but it continues to happen.
I also tried getting to the repository in a web browser, but I was unsuccessful.

Any ideas?

I can access that file without problems. Are you still having the problem? Are you able to access it using a web browser from your server or a host behind your server?

How is your server connected to the net? Are there any other parties between your server and the internet connection? What is the result of the internet connectivity test run from the admin console on your server?

Yesterday, around 3:58pm CST, access to the site/server started working consistently again, and I was able to perform the updates.
I have not tried it again, since around 5:15pm CST.

Thanks.

http://distro.ibiblio.org/ has been unreliable for some time - apparently overloaded at times.

"connection refused" usually indicates that there is end-to-end connectivity.
