Dear Forums,
My server mainboard is broken, and i have to change with new one,
new computer is working find with windows os,
and i just replace the hard drive from the broken mainboard.

After starting to reboot, i found this error "kernel panic - not syncing : attempted to kill init!"

I has digging to many place (include googling), and it seem no one can give the exact how to resolve the problem,
mostly they just said causing of the new hardware.
Of course its because the new hardware, ...

And also according to this link : http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#Rescue_Mode_Help
only giving the rescue boot step.

Any body know how to resolve this problem?

OK, you will need to boot in to sme rescue mode and do some checking i.e check hard drives are actually detected by linux and run commands like vgdisplay to see if the lvm is picked up.

Can you tell us more about SME Server version used and motherboard make/model number.

I Do boot on "sme rescue" by using SME Boot CD 7.5.1,
but how to runing the rescue procedure .... i am not an expert on linux command,
the prompt that i have is on "grub" prompt ..
 
sme server version is 7.5.0 and the mainboard is : PC-Chip P33G V1.0 with Intel P.IV/3.0GHz and 2GB RAM

You shouldn't see that, after you type sme rescue you should see a long list of text scrolling by...

sme server version is 7.5.0 and the mainboard is : PC-Chip P33G V1.0 with Intel P.IV/3.0GHz and 2GB RAM

You will need to check to make sure that motherboard is compatible with linux and in particular CentOS 4.8.

You may need to check in the BIOS that the option native mode/AHCI mode, but before you change that what is it currently set to?
