   hello to all SME users...
 
   my VLAN's
   192.168.2.0/24 vlan 2
   192.168.3.0/24 vlan 3
   192.168.4.0/24 vlan 4


   I have a problem with my e-mail sme 7 server.... my network is connected in vlan.  my VLAN's  already has private lan 192.168.2.0/24 192.168.3.0/24 192.168.4.0/24.  when i open my browser to change my account password in vlan 2...i change my password everynow and then....but in vlan 3 and vlan 4....the display is Cannot Connect to Server..... ...  pls help how to fix this problem.....

Is there inter vlan routing currently? If so have you added the other networks as local networks?

SME server does not support vlans. Any issues with vlan concern configuration of other equpiment in your network - e.g. switches and routers, or, as has been mentioned, the 'local networks' list in the SME server server-manager.

I disagree with your statement. With proper configuration, sme does support vlans. What it doesn't support is multiple sub interfaces whether tagged or not on ethernet interfaces.

As long as there is some layer 3 device behind the sme, and adding them as local networks vlans are supported. I would think if setup in it's own vlan, acl lists could control security between vlans while still allowing the share of a sme.

I guess we may just disagree about the word support

This is what a VLAN is.
The word support coming from Charlie means you won't get any help from the Devs configuring this.

After a night rest, I suppose I should correct myself. I believe the base operating system does support multiple sub interfaces. 

Now more on topic, I think what the OP is trying to do is share sme resources within his multiple vlan environment. If this is the case, both of my original questions need to be affirmative.

The base OS does indeed. But SME server provides no facilities for configuring any vlan tagged interfaces.

You are asking in the wrong forum. You need to consult the documentation of whatever you have in your network which is routing between vlans - perhaps you have a router. SME server does not route between vlans.

Some higher end vlan capable switches provide the layer 3 routing functionality, others require an external routing device. You may want to open a topic in the general question forum and describe the make and model of your current equipment.

You won't be able to add the networks to the local network pages ubtil you know the ip address of the device that can communicate with the others. Generally speaking this usually would be the gateway for the network.

You need to use the 'Local networks' panel in the SME server-manager to add the 2nd and 3rd VLANs, specifying as the gateway an IP address on the SME network.

That is, you need to add a 'local network' for vlan3 with a gateway of 192.168.2.? (possibly your existing default gateway), and likewise for vlan 4.

If everything works except login to server-manager (that is, if you can 'ping' your SME server from vlan3 and vlan4, and if you can 'ping' vlan3 and vlan4 systems from your SME), you could also use an ssh tunnel or VPN from vlan3 and vlan4 (or from anywhere else on the planet) to manage your SME.  This would give you server-manager access from the other vlans without exposing the other SME "Local Network" services (SMB ibays, unencrypted SMTP relay, unencrypted POP3, unencrypted IMAP, etc)
