Dansguardian auth exception
« on: January 25, 2011, 09:24:10 AM »
Hi all,

After installing Dansguardian on a SE 7.5.1 server I have a problem with automatic updates not authenticating with the proxy, all other Http access seems to work fine.

for example Ubuntu updates fail with

407  Proxy Authentication Required [IP: 91.189.88.45 80]

this seems to happen to all the automatic updates on the LAN including Microsoft and virus scanner updates. I have added the sites to the exceptionurllist and they can be accessed from a browser.
I think I need exceptionauthurllist or similar but not found anything that looks like it may do what I want.

Any help appreciated,

Neil

Thanks Ian,

I have manually configured Synaptic Package Manager with the proxy server settings (Settings > Preferences > Network) and this works fine. I've manually configured various apps on the XP m/c's like virus checkers and windows updates etc. I was really wondering if there was a way to redirect to certain sites from the server without having to authenticate.

I have looked into it a bit and I think Squid will need configuring to achieve it but not really had time to look too deeply.
