Unable to get NCSA Authentication working in SME 8.b6
« on: February 16, 2011, 09:00:22 PM »
Hi all,

I did a new installation of SME 8.6, downloaded the dansguardian .rpm and installed it.
I config squid as follow:

config setprop squid TransparentPort 8080
config setprop squid Transparent yes
config setprop dansguardian portblocking yes
signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot

After reboot I did the following config:

config setprop squid RequireAuth ncsa
expand-template /etc/squid/squid.conf
sv t /service/squid

I created the /etc/proxyusers and tested it with /usr/lib/squid/ncsa_auth /etc/proxyusers, it works.

In previous versions of SME at this stage if I accessed the internet via IE I would get a "Cache access denied" if I did not change the proxy setting in IE to point to my server ip and port 8080.
In SME8.6 I do not get the screen that requires the username and password???? I can access the internet with or without changing my proxy settings.

I confirmed that the dansguardian service ir running. Did I miss something with squid 2.6?

I did a new installation of SME 8.6,
I guess you mean 8.0 beta 6 as 8.6 does not exist.
