Auto update is failing
« on: May 07, 2011, 07:16:21 AM »
Hi.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or another problem.  Hopeful some one can advise me on this.  I'm getting lots of messages like the following in my Yum log:
Code: [Select]
2010-11-22 10:01:25.284882500 Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: smeaddons
2010-11-22 10:01:25.284900500 Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: smeaddons
2010-11-22 10:01:25.297066500 yum grouplist updates status 256

2010-11-23 04:02:16.724406500 yum list available status 51200

2010-11-23 04:02:16.920559500 yum grouplist available status 51200
2010-11-23 04:02:17.111302500 Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running. Aborting.
2010-11-23 04:02:17.123416500 yum list installed status 51200
2010-11-23 04:02:17.311415500 Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running. Aborting.
2010-11-23 04:02:17.321951500 yum grouplist installed status 51200

Should I open a bug report?

I also noticed that my logs says that my ClamAV version is out of date (I'm at level 56 and 60 is recommended).  Is this related to the failure of auto update?

 should read
"I also noticed that my logs says that my ClamAV version is out of date ( WARNING: Current functionality level = 53, recommended = 60).  Is this related to the failure of auto update?"

Mary,

I took a look at the FAQ.  Got to admit I didn't get much out of it.  So I guess I'll start by verifying which repositories are enabled.  Don't know how to do that.  Where do I find the info on how to verify repositories?

You should open a bug report any time you think there might be a bug. Obviously you think there might be a bug here.

Charlie,

Thanks for replying.  I'm still picking my way through the various bits of info and instructions.  I've done a yum clean and update and am waiting to see what happens in the logs.  I looks like the yum log error shows up ever 5-6 hours, so I have a few hours to wait to see if the problem goes away.

Also, it looks like this problem has been reported before.

That doesn't matter. We will merge any duplicates.

Sorry for not replying sooner...busy, busy, busy.

It seems the yum cleanup and update fixed the problem.

Thanks to all for you help.
