webmail access is broken
« on: May 14, 2011, 01:24:57 PM »
Hi, hopefully this is not in another thread.

I have recently discovered that all webmail access on my server is broken. 99.9% of the time POP3 is used onto workstations hence why it is only recently I discovered it not working.

Ok what is happening. https://IPorFQDN/webmail (or /roundcube both are available) will display the page for username and password. Entering valid username and password and clicking Login for /webmail, the browser (chrome) says waiting for IPorFQDN (whichever, tried both) and then after about 5 minutes times out and displays "Login failed because your username or password was entered incorrectly." The URL bar shows (edited for privacy) https://FQDN/horde/imp/login.php?imapuser=USER&horde_logout_token=U9EnWya83mTY_MLdNbxXfdTLiNc&app=imp&logout_reason=badlogin

Now the username and the password ARE correct as it is my own account which I can access ssh/user-manager/pop3/sftp with

Same thing with /roundcube gives

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /roundcube/.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Now I can only assume it is something gone awry with an update as I have another two servers that are all yum updated at the same time and both of these are working with their webmail. I'm not sure when exactly the problem began as I rarely use the webmail portal unless I am away from my office, home or lappie (all have email client) so I'm not sure where to start looking.

I have looked through the (/var/logs/) error_log, httpd/access_log, httpd/error_log

error_log shows nothing related
httpd/access_log shows the same URL as is in the browser bar indicating a bad login
httpd/error_log

Now it seems like the "webmail" cannot connect to the authentication db.

I have yum updated and there is nothing outstanding.

So I am seeking advice on
a) where to look for the error
b) where to look for the solution to fix the problem (reinstallation of horde etc)
c) what to try next

Please feel free to ask for output of logs/config files etc

I have not posted anything on bugzilla yet as I'm not convinced it is a bug.

Regards,
Steve B

Is Imap available in mail options? Webmail needs it.
