ClearOS Core
« on: June 04, 2011, 06:32:06 PM »
I thought I'd point out the following announcement:

http://www.clearfoundation.com/clearos-core

http://linuxtracker.org/index.php?page=torrent-details&id=e9d049d090d3fe4c476ddbbb1401f903eff85029

This effort was done in no small part by one of our lead developers here, Shad Lords.

Given all the issues with the Centos Project, this is welcome news for SME!

Looks interesting (but note the "alpha" tag and current vaporware status). Thanks Greg.

I guess that might explain why Shad has been unresponsive to questions directed to him in the bug tracker.

Charlie,

It certainly isn't vaporware, as I downloaded the ISO just this morning.  See the second link I posted with a torrent download link.

My understanding is that this is a binary compatible rebuild of RHEL 6.1.  I suspect the alpha status indicates a cautious standpoint to test and make sure of this binary compatibility.

Sorry, I was basing my statement on this, in the first linked document (which I now realise may have been made weeks ago):

It will be released as a torrent in the coming weeks.

No it was made yesterday.  We weren't sure when we would have it ready for release so we gave ourselves some room.  It is ready now and we are just getting our internal seeds up and populated.  Look for the official announcement the first part of next week.
