Topic: No local login after installing remoteuseraccess

I have been successfully running SME 7.5.1 for some time with less than 10 users in 3 groups.
All users, except admin, have VPN access.
There are two ibays plus the Primary ibay.

Some time ago I configured htaccess to allow secure access to some ibays. This appeared to work well.

Yesterday I installed remoteuseraccess in order to allow some users to manage their own ibay.
The installation was successful and included a, signal-event post-upgrade; signal-event reboot

After installing I found that all users except root and admin could not login on the server console terminal.
There is no error message; the user is asked for the login: and password: and is then immediately returned to the login: prompt.

I uninstalled remoteuseraccess, (remove smeserver-remoteuseraccess followed by  signal-event post-upgrade; signal-event reboot

However, on rebooting I find that I still have the same login problem: only root and admin can login.

Have I missed something? I hope I don't have to do a rebuild.

did you modify your users' account to login (i.e. changed the shell)?
anything interesting in the logs?

When I had installed remoteuseraccess, I used the User Remote Access panel to try a change on one account only, (my personal account). I set the shell to bash. But then I couldn't log in so I changed it back to the default as I thought that this was my problem.
(This was all prior to removing remoteuseraccess)

Sorry Stefano, I wasn't quite sure what you meant by,

   "did you modify your users' account to login (i.e. changed the shell)?"

That's why I mentioned the change to bash. No user account parameters were changed using the standard server-manager user panel.
 

What logs should I be looking at, (secure)?

Perhaps you have remote access via public/private key enabled, but do not have keys set up for those other users.
Otherwise perhaps you have not added those other users to
/etc/sudoers
or if they were there previously, then they have been removed (during app installs & uninstalls ?).
