Partition damaged (after power cut) - system won't start - how to repair?

In /etc/mtab I can see /dev/main/root is mounted as /and /dev/md1 as /boot.

Don't look in /etc/mtab - that is a file on your read-only mounted partition. Look in /proc/mounts, to find out what is really mounted.

Sorry i've been modifying my previous post without seeing you had already replied lol...

In /proc/mounts I have nearly the same, /dev/main/root as / and /tmp/md1 as /boot. Among other things. md2 does not appear.

I should have mentioned I did a chroot /mnt/sysimage as suggested by the rescue system just before it leaves you in the console...
