Topic: SME 7.5 boot issues with External USB backup

HI I have a SME 7.5 with updates installed- migrated to new hardware about 6 months ago. I Have a ASUS M2N-MX with two 80GB SATA drives in RAID1.
P4, 1GB RAM. SERVER/GATEWAY Mode.

I have a USB 2.0 to IDE external Carriage for backup.- Disk is a 250GB. I can swap easily with this carriage.

Problem is that when I restart the server it locks during the interactive start-up process of the boot-up.
The error on the boot up screen is... initialising hardware....storage network audio....

it does not progress and further than this.

The only way to resolve it is to shut the server down- unplug the power lead, re-plug it. Switch the carriage switch on the backup to off then reboot the server- once its booted up i turn the backup carriage switch back on.

The USB carriage disk is manually configured and labelled. It does my backups daily and has been running flawlessly here for my new hardware and also the old PIII

Other things that may or may not relate to the problem.- the Onboard network card has no drivers- I installed tow PCI ethernet cards and run it in server/gateway mode with dansguardian.
Also it doesn't install a ic2 module when booting.

Regards USB issue, check: http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5339  This issue is unlikely to be addressed (at least at the moment), all efforts are directed towards the release of 8RC1. 

As regards the ouboard NIC drivers, this is not surprising, especially if you have a new board, you could chase for drivers or as you did install 2 PC card, saves you time...
