How is LDAP integrated with other servers?

Can anyone tell me how OpenLDAP is actually integrated with the e-smith server. I would like to be able to adminstrate the user account remotely through LDAP.

I'm just not sure how the accounts are synced up with in the server.

- Are the system accounts syncing with OpenLDAP?
- Is OpenLDAP syncing with the system accounts
- or does the "/server-manager" have scripts that update both onChanges?

Also where would I find the actual scripts behind the "/system-manager".. if I wanted to make some changes?

Any information about the general architecture would be great.
