install on K6 II
« on: July 15, 2002, 09:00:04 PM »
Anyone had problems to install SME 5.1.2 on AMD K6 II ?

I had tryed to install on several and have get several different errors... most of time it don't know identify NIC (I have tried Intel, Realtek 8139, ...)

On my first SME I have to install on another K6 II (on another client!) and move to original client!
Yesterday I tried to install again in a K6 II and get just 3Com NIC as choice to choose from (I have NO 3Com NICs on that machine! Just ONE Intel 10/100 Pro!)

I also has problems with installation not doing Post Install when I install HDD as slave on primary or secondary... any ideas ?

Thanks!

I have installed it on a K II 500 without problems. (I believe that's the same family)

I'd suggest :

1. Check the hardware compatibility list and make sure you have a network card that fits the bill - I am not sure about your ones as I haven't checked.

2. You really need to install as a master and NOT as a slave. Someone will probably tell you why, but have a good read in the forums first.

3. Don't give up just yet ;-)

Could you please tell me what kind of Motherboard do you have used?
I have tried on PcChips M571 and M598. They're 2 of cheapest MoBo we can find here in Brazil!

I have done that! And I'm surprised to see just Realtek 8029 on list... I'll check again! But my Intel 10/100 Pro is there!!!

Of course no! I'll do it work on this k6 and on my P166 (other font of problems...)

Thanks!
