printer paper size
« on: January 31, 2012, 04:26:08 AM »
Hi hopefully someone can help me.....
SME 7.4 server with a printer on lp0,
suddenly a PC on the LAN trying to use is indicates 'paused' and cannot work.
So I added a new printer, to use that instead.
All is well except that printing set paper size to LETTER regardless of the print options set on the PC.

I thought cups was used by SME but it seems to be defined in samba, and I do not know where/what is causing this setting or where to change it.
regards Rob

are you logged in domain ? or just using as workgroup ?
could you try to acess same data in server to verify if printer state do not change back to "ok"?

How do you know paper size is LETTER... server have no preferences... it's a RAW queue, just receive data and send to printer... no paper size preferences included. All configuration came from you client computer.
You can install CUPS...search for a HowTo in Wiki... but if you do not need it... let standard LPD ... it's quicker and lighter!

If that is so, there is something wrong with the printer driver on the PC. Check its settings, and/or look for an update. SME server is just a pass-through conduit between the printer driver on the PC and the printer.
