E-Smith and Content Management

Hi Listers,

I am working on a M$ project for my boss and our developers. I would like to be able to demonstrate the possiblities with OSS also. I think I want to use e-smith servers as the formal basis that's why I am posting this big question.

Currently, I manage 3 out of 8 WAN/LAN segements using mainly NT 4.0(sp6a) with NTWS 4.0(sp6a) clients. The project I am exploring uses W2K advance server as the NOS with SQL 2000, Sharepoint Portal Server, Content Management Server, IIS 5.0 along with all the other hooks that M$ tries to push on ya for doc/content mgt system.

Now I have been surfing alot and was trying to figure out what I may need on the OSS side of the house. I figure I need MySQL, Apache, PHP for starters.

I am wondering what I can use for a document mgt system and content control system. Basically, I think they want to be able to share files across the enterprise and have a version control system that controls those documents and all done via a browser of some kind.

Now I also like the twig and horde projects for groupware. I have seen some postings here which seemed very positive. So I think you can see why I am asking this question on this board. I like what e-smith has to offer. Thanks and I will check in later. All opinions is appreciated

Hi,

I see most of your requirements back in twiki. http://twiki.org/

There is a tuned version for Mitel SME.

I just found some other stuff that might be of interest:

groupware (contact, projects, mail, calender and the other tooling required) have a look at moregroupware (.org).

And as you requested document management: most groupware projects forget about this. Go check out mydms (at http://dms.markuswestphal.de/about.html).

Both packages install without any trouble right on e-smith (at least I got them running while I'm no linux guru).

I download mydms (at http://dms.markuswestphal.de/about.html).

Install here in my server 5.5 but i can't upload a document

i receive the following error :

Adding document "gfg" to folder "Documents"...An error has occured

I search in the forum http://dms.markuswestphal.de/forum and try to solve this problem but nothing yet.

Thanks

Calvin, just yesterd a new version was published (1.2.0) that addresses this bug (I never had this experience, though)

I have the same problem with MyMDS.  I have installed the latest release on an upgraded 5.5 server.  I can create subfolders but cannot add a document.

I get thi error:

"Adding document "epson" to folder "RBMI Documentation"...An error has occured"
