Mailing list managers

I need a mailing list manager such as ezmlm or mailman. While both apparently work on SME 8 according to this wiki page:

http://wiki.contribs.org/SME8.0_Contribs_QA

I've found that both have problems.

Can people recommend one package over the other and have you had any success in installing these packages in SME 8?

Cheers!

Sure thing!

Mailman is the most serious and actually documented on the above wiki page - it causes the SME 8 bootstrap-console to hang after a reboot to apply system changes.

Ezmlm is just minor cosmetic problems with all the pages in the server-manager. It's missing icons and other styling information which means some headings don't appear on their own lines etc. I'm sure these problems could be easily resolved.

I'm sure mailman can be fixed, but if ezmlm does the job just as well that might be the easier fix!

I  have smeserver-ezmlm-web installed as per
http://wiki.contribs.org/Ezmlm
and it's working OK, and appearance is OK in sme 8.0 server manager, updated recently.

Hi Mary,

If I install it again and still have the same problem I will post some screenshots. The problems I experienced earlier were only minor cosmetic problems but it did make it a bit difficult manage ezmlm using the web interface.

From what I understand ezmlm hasn't had a new version for over 10 years and ezmlm-web hasn't had a new version since 2008 while mailman has a very active development community. Do you feel this could be a potential problem if ezmlm is possibly at end-of-life? I really hate coming to rely on infrastructure that is no longer being developed and supported and having to change to a whole new infrastructure because of it.
