Problem restoring with DAR2
« on: July 24, 2012, 11:11:11 PM »
Following from my problems with the upgrade from 7.6 to 8.0 I was forced to build a new SME system and now I am trying to restore a backup from my 7.6 system.  All the 'fake' hardware RAID is disabled and I'm using two new larger disks.

I have installed the DAR2 contrib as I think that was what I used to do the backup.  (It was over a month ago and my memory isn't what it was :-))  And I know I should have a more recent backup..

I have set up a backup job (called Backup) using the same details as before and checked I can mount the usb drive.

the directory structure on the usb disk is:

usbdisk/rusty.office-itplus.co.uk/set0 with the dar files below.

I get the following in the log:

Jul 24 21:37:47 rusty e-smith-bg: Connecting to /dev/sdc1
Jul 24 21:37:47 rusty kernel: kjournald starting.  Commit interval 5 seconds
Jul 24 21:37:47 rusty kernel: EXT3 FS on sdc1, internal journal
Jul 24 21:37:47 rusty kernel: EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
Jul 24 21:37:47 rusty e-smith-bg: Expanding /etc/dar2/Backup template
Jul 24 21:37:47 rusty e-smith-bg: Error locating /rusty.office-itplus.co.uk/Backup dir

I have raised a bug report (Bug 7052) but I suspect it is operator error but what?

Thanks,

Tony

no expert here, but I encountered similar woes from 7.6 to 8.
IIRC, you may need to manually create the "Backup" folder in the destination drive first.

cheers

Are you sure you used the DAR2 contrib to make that backup.
That file structure looks like it was made using the default backup to workstation in server manager Backup or Restore panel.

I'd try restoring from there rather than from the DAR2 panel.
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.
