Topic: am I insane? gateway address problem on setup

Hi Guys, think i'm finally at the point of self certification....

I have installed sme_server 7.6, no probs.... except the installation requires the address of the gateway used to access the internet.
(now bearing in mind im new to all this)

this is the router address - im certain.... thompson gateway address 192.168.1.254

when i try to enter it, it just reloads the screen with the default ip address (which incidently the installation will also not accept)

Please help.....

The gateway address must be on the same IP network as the local IP address. So if your gateway is 192.168.1.254, then your local IP address must be set to 192.168.1.X (and netmask to 255.255.255.0).
