Webmail is using imp as standard
I suggest you install
mimp

MIMP is a version of IMP suitable for mobile devices such as WAP phones or PDAs.

While you are at it might as well install
dimp

You will have the option to choose the mode you want to login with.  Traditional (imp), Dynamic (dimp), or Minimalist (mimp) if you have all three installed.

They all work fine with sme8
