Benefits to using the MIMP addon to horde webmail ?
« on: December 06, 2012, 07:56:02 PM »
Could usng the MIMP contrib make it safer to read email.

I installed the MIMP contrib to the SME8 server.
It looked like reading email was in all text using windows internet explorer.

**********************************************************
just some FYI here
We have a different way of accessing the internet.
Our workstations have web access white filtered to a limited few web sites, so there is no way, I  hope,  users cannot access web sites other that has been granted.
We have other computers, that are isolated, that are allowed access to the full internet and we use remote control(VNC) to access those computers for use on internet.
**********************************************************

Since our workstations are blocked for accessing any none approved website.
And if the MIMP mode of accessing emails is with text only.
It would seem safe to allow our windows workstations to use windows internet explorer to access the emails thru the webpages of "https://ipaddress/horde/mimp".
What i am trying to do here would be to block email attachments and embedded code in html code that could bring on a viruses and such.
With our setup, this would allow access to emails so much easier and i would feel saver.

Any comments would be most welcomed.

if you are really scared and worried about viruses coming from the web, stop using IE

IE is how we are setup and it is all ok. It is only allowed certain websites. All other browsers are locked out from browsing with InetLock.
Stefano, sorry, that did not answer my question about MIMP being in text mode only.
