While doing regular updates - one update continued to fail – “sudo.i386 1.7.2p1-14.el5” due to dependencies. Taking a close look at it showed it wanted “policycoreutils.i386” to resolve the issue, so I selected it from the software install window, allowing it to install.
The end result was a failure to boot – the error - “Unable to load SELinux policy. Machine is in Enforcing mode.”
I was able to modify my grub.conf adding the line “enforcing=0” after the kernel line. == Success ==
My Question – this install currently is SME8 beta 7 – fully patched, and working fine – but is scheduled in 6 months to receive upgraded hardware and the latest release of SME at that time. Am I safe to leave the troublesome SELinux (the policycoreutils) on the machine until the upgrade– or should I uninstall it ?
I bow to your experience and knowledge for this advice and appreciate any of the same.
Many Thanks
