Hi all
Today there are a lot of stuffs are doing by people who are working for the SME9, you have been heard well :p, we need your help to verify bugs or to join us for give more money to the project....
don't miss the train, we are writing history now.
a big thank to wellsi and all the devteam
original Mail of ian wellThe pace of development remains fast with about 3 bugs fixed each day. If
you follow http://wiki.contribs.org/SME9Alpha you will end up with a quite usable
server. It will soon be time to start discussing the criteria for Beta,
although the next step is Alpha 2 with upstream branding removed and
allowing further testing.
There is a growing problem which needs the help of the community which is
the lack of verifications. To help this there is a new page showing all the
verifications needed and links to the process, http://wiki.contribs.org/Verification_Queue
http://bugs.contribs.org/report.cgi?x_axis_field=bug_status&y_axis_field=target_milestone&product=SME+Server+9.X&format=table&action=wrap
If you are interested in learning how to develop for SME Server then more
documentation is planned to make the early steps easier to understand. The
IRC channel, irc://freenode/sme_server is also a very informal place where
there are normally some of the developer community present.
The main SME Server 9.0 wiki page: http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server_9.0_Development
With the increased activity it would be good to recruit more
troubleshooters, see http://goo.gl/JegJ1 Note that helping SME Server 8 bugs
also helps SME Server 9 as most will be common to both.
Troubleshooter
There's a lot that non-coders can do to help in the bug tracker to improve
bug report quality. We need help in making sure that bug reports are clear,
that observations are fully collected, are separated from speculation and
attempted workarounds, relevant log files are checked, etc, etc.
The best way to resolve a problem is to process it quickly, if it becomes
old it is harder to get more information from the original reporter and
harder to verify any fix. To look at all SME Server 8 bugs updated in the
last 60 days see http://goo.gl/lNVz6 If you are not sure what to do then see
http://wiki.contribs.org/Bugzilla_Help#Bug_Triage
You can also look at the reports page for other searches:
http://wiki.contribs.org/Bugzilla_Reports
I encourage you to look at the recent SME Server 8 bugs (i.e.
http://goo.gl/lNVz6 ) and help us understand them and therefore fix them.
At the moment I see 34 bugs in that list.
