(1/1)

apmuthu:
Where is the latest Joomla contrib located?

Just placed the entire Joomla 1.5.x code base in a public GitHub Repo with all know fixes even after last release at:

https://github.com/apmuthu/joomla15

Last one I could see was this by Daniel for 1.5.x

Remember that this is EOL and no longer supported, unless as you say, it is forked and maintained.

Probably easier/better to work with the new versions...... I cannot see 1.5.x being accepted as a current contrib here.

@John: Thankyou for the links. I was hoping for a later src.rpm though.

I do see tremendous opportunity for developing Joomla v1.5 and have hence placed the historical code base on GitHub. Although the "Official" Joomla devs are not maintaining this version anymore (stated clearly on the GitHub page to avoid anyone from being misled), I see no reason why other development groups worldwide should not develop it. This GitHub repo is not a fork but a launchpad for easy forking. Changes made after the last release are minor and involve correction of typos and code resurrection lost on PHP version change taken from the official forums and widely used by the OpenVZ community for quite a while possibly even now.

The later versions of Joomla, viz., 2.5.x, 3.x are dependent on the current versions of PHP, better hardware resources, and rely on a many many more libraries - vulnerabilities in each of them could be a potential vulnerability in these versions of Joomla. In contrast, Joomla v1.5 did not have any significant changes in releases after v1.5.20 with only version bump ups for the most part remaining quite stable for use officially and relying on much lesser number of thirdparty libraries (each of which can be selectively updated to later versions if so deemed).

The commits on the GitHub Joomla 1.5 repo can be seen to indicate the tried and tested state it has been in since 2008 till March 2012 when the version was declared EOL by the "Official" Joomla devs. I have chosen to give it a new lease of life for those who believe it can yet be useful - rather making it easier to do so.

No worries.

I'm not sure there was anything later but I am sure you could use the SME tweaks in that one and add in the Joomla source easily enough
