if you are moving to a new hw too you could use Affa (
http://wiki.contribs.org/Affa
)
just remember to install only the needed contribs on the new server and you are done
in any case, SME's backup doesn't transfer applications/contribs, but only users/files/emails/and server/daemons configurations

I switched servers using the "take out RAID1 Disk and put it into new server" method described in the
http://wiki.contribs.org/Moving_HardDisk_to_New_Hardware
. Only have to take care of Kernel Panic and fix that as described in some Howto here. If you are careful with the fix of initrd while eliminating kernel panic (just type carefully) this is a 20 minute task plus the time for resync of SW Raid 1. Worked like a charm for me.
You can uninstall unwanted software afterwards via server-panel or yum.
