SME8 cannnot access the internal network
(1/1)
dbaddour:
Hi,
THis is my first attempt on new install for the SME8. I have 2 other servers running SME7.xx.
What troubled me is:
the new install is as follow:
- external IP: 192.168.5.50 GW: 192.168.5.211
- internal IP: 192.168.6.100
from a system on the internal network with 192.168.6.11 IP and using the 192.168.6.100 GW i can access everything on the extrnal network (192.168.5.xx) but from my 192.168.5.xx i cannot access anything on the 192.168.6.xx network... I can ping 192.168.6.100 with no problem... i cannot bring the SME GUI on that subnet only with the external IP.
Idea?
Please and thank you
Stefano:
Hi
it's so "by design" because SME is acting as a firewall and almost no traffic from External to Internal interface is allowed
you should start reading the documentation and telling us what are you trying to achieve..
dbaddour:
Ah ok,
the 5.x is my office network... I want to add another network to extand it for the DEV team which will be the 6.xx subnet... I want the SME to act as route between those 2 subnet, access back and forth.. ( i don't want to use a router)..
