Unable to access Remote Management
« on: August 01, 2002, 05:14:53 PM »
When trying to access the remote server-manager (www.xxx.dk/server-manager) I get a message telling me I haven't the rights to see this page. And if I try to use the servermanager at the server (local) and get a '403 Forbidden' error.

That seems to me to indicate that I have somehow managed to change the rights of these files or folders - but where can I find them?

I'm new to Linux and therefore I don't know which tools to use in a search for common/noframes or something else related to the server-manager.

What version of SME are you running and what might you have done to change the rights of the folders or files.
As a standard install SME does not allow remote access to the server-manager, unless it is enabled in 5.5 on the remote access page (at the bottom). On earlier versions you need to follow this how to

http://www.e-smith.org/docs/howto/remote-mgr-access-howto.html

to allow SSL access i.e https://blah.com/server-manager

Otherwise you can use Putty and SSH access.

I'm using ver. 5.1.2

... but it's more than that. In remote access I include accessing the server form a workstation on the local network. If I can't do that the e-smith system is seriously crippled!

And another thing: as I mentioned in the previous message, I can't even get in touch with the servermanger at the server - I mean sitting there in front of it, locally.
