Can't save outgoing email server settings in Office 365
« on: July 31, 2013, 02:07:43 PM »
A customer of mine, on SME 8 up to date, is finding that Windows 8 and Office 365 will not save the outgoing email details because when it runs an email "test" (which cannot be supressed?) the email send fails with "Email without date not accepted here", and it will not save the settings.

Anyone had this problem? and have any thoughts?

first suggestion: get rid of that c**p ;-)

the serious one: read the FAQ ( http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ:Section04#Outlook_test_message_doesn.27t_come_through ) ;-)

Agreed, i warned them before they started this exercise that Thundebird was far more likely to work.

Yes already aware of that, up to now, Office 2003/7/10 etc allowed the test to be turned off, 365 seems to use the test "pass" to validate the parameters, and we can't find a way to supress it.

Is there any way to (temporarily) stop the SME testing for the date?  :-x

Does that mean I can turn it off for a period, then turn it on again later? - if so how. DB command?

re-read the FAQ I linked above :-)

1) disable the date-header check
2) do whatever you have/want to do
3) re-enable the check undoing point 1
