Disabling the repo locally in server manager is of limited benefit.
You should really disable the cron job.
/sbin/e-smith/check4updates -m
I am happy to stay with SME7 -it does the required task well and there is no need to upgrade to version 8.
The mirrorlist for repos for sme7 have been removed & are not functional for yum updates.
You can download packages manually to do installs, but the main issue is that there will be NO MORE updates for sme7.
So soon (maybe already) your sme7 server will have security vulnerabilities for which there will be no updates released to fix the security issues.
Also the antivirus program & updates will no longer be released for sme7 so your server will become less effective at dealing with spam & viruses.
This has already happened as there is a new version out that will not be updated on sme7.
SME 8 was released OVER a year ago, so you should really update to sme8 now to keep your system secure.
It many cases it will just be a matter of inserting the CD & doing an upgrade.
You may have to upgrade any contribs that are incompatible, refer sme8 wiki for details of these.
