Hi all,

I am wondering if i could get some help please?

I have installed SME 8.0 and sitex as a contrib.

I would now like to change the url from http://<hostname>/sitex to http://<hostname>

any ideas how i can achieve this?

I have tried changing the 50DocRoot template, and restarting but to no avail :(

I have also tried to change the site name in sitex, but that then puts two slashes in the url and pages can not be found ie http<servername>//admin.php

Thanks in advance!

Change it in the admin panel of sitex
http://wiki.contribs.org/SiteX
see
Setup section

Follow up changes with
signal-event sitex-post-upgrade

Did you follow the instructions fully & correctly.
Try again I suggest.

Hi janet,

Thanks for taking the time to reply..

I have looked through the setup, and although there is the bit the says you need to change the url for he fully qualified domain name, there was nothing specific to the url, so what i did was to have another try, and set the site name to https://www.<domainname.co.uk>

Now i get

index of /

but when i try to get back to sitex to change anything i keep hitting blank pages - i assume that i is because the link to it has been changed - how do i restore to try again??

Cheers

Chummers:
oh and if i do
https://<domainname.co.uk>/index.php

i get

Not Found

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

Hi all,

Right, since i could not get access to ant of the sitex pages, i have uninstalled sitex and re-installed.

So i am back to the beginning again, however the only place i can see to change the URL is in the site preferences on the general management section, logged in as admin.

The first option is "site URL" which is currently set to http://www.<domainname>/sitex

if i change that to http://www.<doaminname> i just get the original SME website under construction message..

how do i change the url to point a browser at www.<domainname> to opt/sitex/ ?

Thanks in advance!
