AjaXplorer Upgrade Issues
« on: June 11, 2013, 07:36:35 PM »
I currently have SME 8.0 and Ajaxplorer 4.2.3

I do not see the standard menu as submitted by the creater of Ajaxplorer, therefore, I am assuming SME has made some further adjustments.
I am trying to upgrade to the latest Ajaxplorer 5, but it is not straightforward like other web applications. It has some db configurations set up and it also has different folders in /etc/ -- /usr/share -- /var/lib/  (So it is not ideal to download and replace the core files.
Any help or ideas?

Code: [Select]
rpm -q ajaxplorer
ajaxplorer-4.2.3-1.el5.fws

Code: [Select]
rpm -q smeserver-ajaxplorer
smeserver-ajaxplorer-0.1.4-1.el5.fws

Code: [Select]
yum update --enablerepo=fws smeserver-ajaxplorer
Updating:
 smeserver-ajaxplorer       noarch       0.1.6-1.el5.fws        fws        34 k

Please do not try to manually upgrade like this. You'll get a lot of problem. You should never override files provided by a rpm. If you really want to use the latest version, you should make a manual install from source, using custom templates. I'm actually working on the v5 packaging, but I still have a few issues to fix.
C'est la fin du monde !!!

I'm not a developer ... YET ... so I won't be compiling anything. I haven't upgraded that way, I was just thinking out loud because another forum said that helps when troubleshooting. Any information you need from me, I am willing and ready to give it up.

AjaXplorer has been updated to version 5.
I used the standard installation through the Wiki on a new SME 8 installation. Works like a charm so far. May be an issue within AjaXplorer where it allows for password changes, will test later to see if it breaks
